Brief content | Large amounts of concentrated seawater brines pose significant environmental and economic thread. Nevertheless, brines can be a convenient source of minerals, like magnesium. Thanks to a very low solubility, magnesium hydroxide can be precipitated from concentrated brines by alkaline reactant. Membrane crystallization with ion-exchange hollow fibres thus might be promising technology for minerals recovery from brines, wastewaters, or other highly concentrated mixed solutions. |
