Brief content Optimum conditions of aucubin isolation from Plantago lanceolata and process scale-up has been proposed. Extraction of the active substances by boiling water was carried out, followed by elimination of some co-extracting compounds (saccharides) by fermentation. Adsorption and desorption on charcoal followed by purification of aucubin by FPLC to Amberlite XAD4 and final lyophilization or crystallization was performed. By this procedure, aucubin with a purity of 60% and other extracts enriched with a different ratio of high added value substances with higher or lower carbohydrate content can be prepared.
